Ireland history

I read Ireland and learned the history of blood, bombs, and guns, from Chapter 5 to Chapter 8. In Ireland, the religious conflict has been continued a thousand years ago. At that time, there were many kings and they often fought each other. In 1536 the English church changed from Catholic to Protestant, so England was a Protestant countly, but Ireland was still Catholic. The Protestant English's king was the most important man in the Church for them, but for the Catholic Irish, the most important man was the Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church in Rome. Therefore, they had a lot of fighting in Ireland about this, and usually the English won. The king of England conducted the Plantation of Ulster, and Protestant Englishmen built a new town in a place called Derry and Londonderry. I was surprised to know it because I had never thought these fighting relate to the regions. In Japan we conflict a dispute over territorial rights in historical stories and the difference of opinions, but not religions. When I was in a high school, I didn't understand it well. In 1801, many poor Catholics in the west of Ireland lived on very small farms because of the great hunger. Thousand of the people died, and many more went on ship to America to find a new and better life. However, most of these poor Irish people died because of a lack of food, so the Irish language nearly died. The government told Irish teachers to use English in school, and the teachers and churchmen thought that speaking English was more mordern. However, a group of Irish writers tried to help the Irish language in 1893, and many people agreed with them. Have you ever heard the word "Sinn Fein"? It is an Irish republican and democratic socialist political party active in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I knew this party for the first time. They enriche their language, music, culture and themselves. I noticed this party was important because I cannot focus on our good culture now, globalization is progressing. Sometimes it is said that all the people will speak only English in the future, but we might make a party like Sinn Fein to protect our countly's culture and languages. In 1914, the First World War started and most of the Protestant Unionists and thousands of Irish Catholics went with the British army to fight against Germany. But many Irish Nationalists stayed in Ireland because they don't want to fight the Germans. They wanted the British to leave Ireland and thought the Germans can help them. In 1916, a group of Irish Nationalists decided to fight for a free Ireland. They went into the Post Office in the middle of Dublin, and Pearse, one of the leaders of the Easter Rising, said "Ireland is a free countly." However the British didn't agree with it, and the battle happened. Many Sinn Fein men went to prison and died. It was a very important dau inIrish history. I impressed the poem written by William Bulter Yeats. He wrote "a terrible beauty". I thought the word "terrible" means that many people died and the word "beauty" expresses his respect to the people tried to protect their free. Today, the conflict of Catholics and Protestants remains, but after thirty years of fighting, people started to talk to each other. After reading it, I thought the religious problem was hard to solve perfectly, but all the people don't want to loss their families, friends and lovers. These feelings make us to stop fighting. I hope we can find a way to understand each other and be convined.
