The Ironing Man

The Ironing Man   by Colin Campbell

I read The Ironing Man this week. It's about a couple, Tom and Marina.
Tom works in London and lives in a small village outside London. Marina is his wife. She had spent bored life in a small village. One day, a man visited her. She called him the ironing man because he ironed her shirts  perfectly. She talked and spent a short time with him. After he left, she saw a butterfly and thought a wing of the butterfly may make an earthquake. On that evening, she told Tom about the ironing man and a butterfly which she had thought that noon. Tom doubted she became mad and started to think what she was doing. Then, Tom noticed a possibility that she cheated him. He became unconcious and asked a detictive to search her acts. After a few days, a woman visited Marina. She was Tracy, a beauty consultant and masseuse. Marina consulted her anout her husband and their life.
Speaking directly, I didn't understand this story. Finally Tom and Marina regained each trust and came to love more and more. But I think who was other characters, Tracy, a detective Phil, and the ironing man. The following is Marina's word on the beach when Tom and Marina was dating.

'It's just ... did you hear that woman's laugh, that blonde woman? It sounded a bit ... it sound a bit like Tracy. And the tall man looked a bit like ... but no. That's not possible, that's not possible. Is it?'

They tried to tear Tom and Marina apart, or help their love...? I want to know your idea if you read this book.
